From Dunhuang to Golmud by Rental Car

Hello,
I want to go in August to Gansu and Qinghai. I plan to rent a car and drive from Dunhuang to Golmud with Chinese friend who has driver license.
How are the road conditions? How long does the trip take?
Are there hotels / restaurants on the way for a stop?

Well, as I know, the road condition is good. Notably, you may need to enrich the car with gasoline. Besides, you are advised to take some foods and water with you in case you may get hungry or thirsty on the way. This trip will take about 6-7 hours without the long-time stop. Generally, you can find the restaurants and hotels in the city along the road, but you may cannot find them on the roadside.
