About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

I will be flying home to the United States from Thailand and I have a 12 hour layover in Beijing.

I would like to explore Beijing while I am there for my layover. Do I need a visa?

No, Ashley, you qualify for the 24 hour direct transit in Beijing, no visa will be needed. But you may be required to apply for a free temporary stay permit at the immigration office when you arrive at the airport and then you can explore the city.
