Question about X2 type

Hi, a read in the article that ''X2 holders shall stay in China within the duration period as indicated on the visa, and it is not necessary for them to apply for the temporary residence permit.''
I have this type of visa, and it will enter only in October. In August I would like to travel to Thailand, while I have one week holiday, so I will need to have the temporary residence permit. How can I have it? Thank you for your answer.
