Marrying Chinese Citizen

I'm Australian and I am about to get married to my fiancee in China.Do I have to leave China to apply for Permanent Residence or can I do it all within China..Also my wife to be is a Plastic Surgeon who owns a clinic and I will be working the as I have a business degree.Does this help in any way to ensure I can be granted Permanent Residence and if valid how to use this to secure permanent Residence as my fiancee does not want to close her clinic down.
