About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Can we fly from USA to Shanghai with a connecting flight through Beijing ?

We'll be on a cruise out of Shanghai, and no other China stops.

I'm afraid you cannot do that if you want to use the 144 hour free transit in Shanghai.
