Going back to Mainland

I lived in China for 3 years, have been living in Hong Kong for a year now, but I am moving back to the mainland in a few months. After moving back, I will travel overseas for a few days before returning to China to settle and start working with my new school. Which visa would be the best for me to apply for, regarding my particular situation? (UK passport)

Matt, you are advised to apply for a tourist L type first for you travel overseas for a few days.
When you go to China to settle and start working, you should apply for a work Z type.
