Hi.I will fly into Pudong airport and stay in Shanghai hotel overnight before boarding a cruise ship

Hi,I will fly from Canada to Pudong airport and stay in a Shanghai hotel overnight before boarding a cruise ship to Japan. Do I qualify for the 144 hours visa free programme?
