About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Round trip from Canada to Shanghai, then round trip from Shanghai to hk.

Do I qualify for the 144hrs visa free transit ? I bought a round trip ticket from Canada to Shanghai. I will be visiting Malaysia during my stay in Shanghai . Wondering what the best options. Can I buy a round trip from Shanghai to hk, then round trip from hk to Malaysia. Or, fly from Shanghai - hk- Malaysia - then Shanghai, then back to Canada. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks a million.

Hi, if you fly from Canada - Shanghai - HK- Malaysia - Shanghai - Canada, you can use the 144 hour free transit in both directions.

Thanks for replying. Does it matter if they are all round Trips? And do I need to inform the airline before I board in Canada? I only have a ticket confirmation for the trip from shanghai to hk and it doesn't have a confirmed seat. Will that be a problem?

If the travel route is Canada - Shanghai - HK- Malaysia - Shanghai – Canada, then it doesn’t matter.
You need to inform the airlines when you board the plane in Canada and in Malaysia.
Usually, it requires that visitors should provide confirmed tickets, so you’d better provide confirmed ticket with confirmed seat.

You don't need an actual seat assignment and seat number. But you do need to show a ticket number for your confirmed flight.

What do u mean by a ticket number? I only have the flight confirmation number when I booked the flight online..do u I mean I have to check in and get an actual ticket first? I will land on the 10th and then fly out on the 15th. I don't think I can check in that early..

Ticket # is usually found on the receipt. There's no need to check in early.
