About:China Visa Entries / Validity / Duration of Stay

Is multiple-entry possible for a short-term student visa (180 days) from the United States?

I am a student from the U.S (and a U.S citizen) and will be studying in Shanghai for the fall. Is obtaining multiple re-entry possible? Thanks!
