Short Term Visa Extension

My residency permit (Visa Z) expires on the 3rd of July 2020. I am not looking to renew my current employment contract. However, because of the pandemic, my school’s semester has been extended into August. Additionally, flights to my home country (UK) are few and far between, meaning it might be nearly impossible to leave before my visa expires. I am therefore keen to remain in China over the summer, before returning back to the UK, in order to complete the extended semester and to allow more time to find appropriate departure flights. Is it possible for a short-term extension to my residency permit to be issue by the Entry-Exit bureau in lieu of my current circumstances?

Steve, yes, it's possible to get a short-term extension if you can provide documents from your school stating that you need to stay longer for the extended semester.
