About:China City Guide

I am planning a trip in August 2017 to Dali from Dandong.

Is it possible to take a high speed train, or will it be better by air?
Are there any low cost hotels available?

As the information I checked, there is no high speed train operating between two places. You may need to take a plane. There are many economic express hotels there, if you don’t mind, you may tell me which area you want to stay in the city. Then I can recommend you with a reasonable hotel.

Thank you for your answer to my question.

I do not know the area and therefore do not know where to stay. As long as it is near all the places of interest, or at least walking distance from it all.
