About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit FAQ

flight booking for 72 hours visa-free transit

We live in Hong Kong and want to visit Shanghai on the way to Tokyo. Is it possible to have a one-way ticket Hong Kong - Shanghai (for example with China Eastern) and then a ticket with ANA (Shanghai - Tokyo - Hong Kong)? I wonder whether we can board the plane in Hong Kong with a one-way ticket.
If that does not work, which other recommendations do you have?
Thanks and regards,
Friedrich

Friedrich, yes, you can do that to enjoy the 144 hour free transit in Shanghai. Two separate tickets are fine.
