About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

US Citizen (US Passport) holder. i have a 15-hour layover,

and would like to see some parts of the city. What type of visa is required? Will the 72 hour free transit work for me? do i have to apply ahead of time?

Finoy, if you will go to a third region or country which is different from the country you come from before your transit in China, you can use the 24 hour direct transit in Chinese cities (except Urumchi). Just apply for a free temporary stay permit at the airport upon arrival.
