Battery bank just confiscated

I just came through security at Shenzhen and had a very small usb battery bank confiscated. The same battery bank had not posed a problem several months earlier. I asked the security guy why it was confiscated but my chinese was not strong enough to fully understand his answer. I was able to determine that the problem was NOT the size. My only thought was that they thought the contacts were too exposed.

A Chinese guy next to me was having a similar sized battery bank confiscated, so I don't believe that I was singled out because of my race or country of origin.

Hello, if power bank's power is less than 160Wh, there is no problem for taking it in general. If the capacity is over that limitation, it is going to be confiscated.

This battery bank was so much smaller than 160Wh............ it was not even close. Something else must be going on, or their security guys were just not trained properly.

It may just have been a mistake, but I did not have the time or ability to follow it up with the authorities

Battery banks must be within the allowable capacity to be able to carry on flights (hand carry), no check-in. The specifications of the Battery capacity must be clearly printed on the battery, without such details, regardless of how small the battery bank is, it will most likely be confiscated in all Chinese Airports.
