About:China Visa

Will be traveling to South Korea and have a 6 hour layover in Shanghai.

Can I leave the airport and sight-see without having to do the 24-hour direct transit? I won't need a visa for South Korea so I won't meet that requirement for the visa process.

Turner, if the last country you fly from before entering Shanghai is not South Korea, you can use the 24-hour direct transit then, and you need to apply for a free temporary stay permit at the immigration office when you arrive at Shanghai airport. Afterwards, you can leave the airport to go sightseeing.
