Hong Kong to Guangzhou airport, visa needed?

I will be in Hong Kong for a while and would leave China through Guangzhou airport. Do I need a visa to travel from Hong Kong to Guangzhou airport? I am a German National.

Hi, Archibald, if you will go to a third country or region rather than HK after staying in Guangzhou for not exceeding 24 hours, you will qualify for the 24 hour direct transit. No transit G type will be needed then.
