About:Hong Kong Visa Application

Hi, I'm Indonesian and will visit Hong Kong on July 1, 2017 for internship in PolyU HK.

The duration of internship is 3 months and for Indonesian only free entry for 30 days. Therefore, I need to apply student visa. I read in the requirement document that only ask the photocopy of travel document. Is it mean we don't need to submit my original passport? Considering the duration of processing 4-6 weeks. I worry because I also need my passport in the mid May.
