About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

I am a US citizen. If transiting through China to USA

Do I need a visa for 1 to 3 days of stay in China?

If so, can I travel to other cities during 1 to 3 days stay in China?

Traveling on May 25th, coming back from Cambodia through Shanghai to USA.

If your inbound and outbound flights have no other stops in China and you are in transit then you can avail the 144-hour free transit. You are permitted to travel inside the specified zone (City of Shanghai, Provinces of Jiangsu and Zhejiang) but cannot leave the zone.
