About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit

DMK-PVG-SHA-LAX-ORD

We are flying thru Shanghai and LAX from Bangkok to Chicago, USA. Our time in Shanghai from touchdown to lift off will be about 26 hrs. Do we qualify for the 144 transit visa?

I'm sorry, our layover is not thru LAX, but Beijing. So effectively we will touch down in Shanghai on April 15, 2017 at 5:35am, and depart from Beijing on April 16, 2017 at 1:40pm. Do we qualify?
