About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

LAX-CSX-PEK and onwards PEK-DMK

If I buy a ticket from LAX to Beijing with a stop in Changsha, do I get to enjoy the 144 visa-free transit in PEK? I will go to DMK on a separate ticket after PEK.

Traveling through two different mainland Chinese transit zones in a row, in your case Changsha and Beijing, limits you to just 24 hours visa free transit. In other words, you have to accomplish your entire transit through mainland China within 24 hours that are counted from your first scheduled arrival, in your case in Changsha, until your last scheduled departure, in your case from Beijing.

In case that you really want to enjoy your 144 hours visa free transit in Beijing, you will have to find a flight option that will have Beijing as the only stop within mainland China.
