Transfer of Z Visa with new employer in Beijing

I am currently working in a small town in NE China as an ESL teacher. I have a residence permit and proper z type. I will be renewing my Z type this coming June but will then be transferring to Beijing in August. My new employer advised that with the new requirements in Beijing, my college degree needs to be verified by the Chinese embassy in the States. Do you know if this is true? It seems crazy to send my college degree (I brought here just in case) back to the States! Please advise.

Audrey, that is true, you need to send your college degree back to the States to be authenticated.

That is what I figured after some intense research, that stinks but I have plenty of time to get it done! Thanks for your assistance.
