About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

I am American living in Taiwan and would like to visit Shanghai for a weekend trip.

I would be flying back to Taiwan after. Would this grant me the 72 hour free transit or would I have to get pay for a one year visitor visa?

Thanks!

You are not eligible for the 144-hour twov and must obtain a tourist L type. Visas issued to Americans are valid for ten years.
