About:China Business Visa

My same sex partner is being transferred to shanghai for 3 years.

Can he hire ne as his chef/house manager probably with an F type visa?

No, he can't hire you as his chef/house manager. And you are advised to apply for a tourist L type for now. If you have to stay in China for a long time, you'd better apply for a student X type or work Z type.
