In China mainland, we use Renminbi, while in Hong Kong, the HK dollar is used widely. You can also use Renminbi in Hong Kong, but they prefer 100 Yuan, the small domination such as 10 Yuan and 20 Yuan are not so popular. If you pay in Renminbi, they usually give you changes in HK dollar. And also the exchange rate is not as satisfying as in mainland.
