CURRENCY

I'm going back to China shortly I want to know what currency I can take in
20000yuan and 2000pounds or 4000pounds in cash I am resident in China

You can only take no more than CNY20,000 or foreign currency equals to it while entering China without declaration; if more than CNY 20,000, you must declare it to the customs.
