About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Heading home from thailand

We are heading home to the US from Thailand with 2 separate flights. The first is a nonstop from Thailand to SHA, and the second is Shanghai to the US. Our second flight has a short (about 3 hours) layover in Beijing. So our flights look like this: Thailand-PVG/SHA-PEK-USA. Do we qualify for any of the free visas to stay in Shanghai?

You qualify for 24 hours direct transit in China (scheduled arrival time in Shanghai to scheduled departure time from Beijing).
