About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Holder of Australian passport heading to Europe in June 2023, transiting PVG Shanghai.

Do we need a visa? Lay-over in Shanghai is less than 24 hours but we are exiting the airport and stay in a hotel within 5kms from the airport. Do we get some sort of document from the airlines or airport? THANK YOU.

You are eligible for the 24-hour visa free transit. Upon arrival, go to the counter to get the stamp or sticker on your passport and you can then leave the airport. Your onward ticket to Europe needs to be shown.
