Peruvian applying for a tourist visa in South Africa

Hi. I am a Peruvian married to a South African citizen, currently living in South Africa under a temporary resident permit. I have applied for a permanent permit 2 years ago and I'm still waiting for it to be issued (the Department of Home Affairs works quite slowly here). In the meantime I have to keep renewing my temporary permit and the current one expires in December. I want to visit China as a tourist for 10 days in September, with my husband, but both my passport and my permit expire the same day (17th Dec.). I could easily get a new passport but having my permit renewed would be very difficult in the time I have left. The website says I need a 6 month validity on my permit to apply. But I will fly to Peru in October and I already have that plane ticket. Would that help me to get an exception on the 6 month permit validity requirement?

Monique, your application may be approved as an exceptional case, because you merely apply for a tourist visa, and there are still valid months of your stay permit in South Africa when you submit the application.
