Transfer from shenzhen north to guangzhou south

I'll be going to Guangzhou from Shenzhen North station I would like to know how long will it take for me to transfer since I'm coming from Xiamen.

The jouney from Shenzhen North to Guangzhou is about 40min. To connect train Xiamen-Shenzhen North and Shenzhen North-Guangzhou, 1 hour is enough.

One hour? oh no so that means i have to rebook my ticket, i only have 17mins gap from my arrival in shenzhen north to departure od my train to guangzhou south. by chance if i cant get on time can i be a chance passenger on th next train without rebooking my ticket? Thanks
