About:Apply for China Visa in a Third Country

Irishman visiting China then HK and then flying back to Beijing to fly home to England

Hello,

I have a single-entry visa to China as I was originally planning to visit for two weeks from England and then fly home to London. I now want to go to Hong Kong but will still need to fly back to Beijing to catch my return flight to London. Do I need another Chinese visa to do this? If so, what is the best way to get it?

Many thanks,
Ella

Ella, you are advised to travel like this: England – Beijing (with your single-entry visa)-HK-Beijing (3 days)-England. If so, you can enjoy the 72 hour free transit in Beijing when you enter for the second time; no visa will be needed then.
If you want to stay for more than 3 days in Beijing when you re-enter, you can try to apply for a visa from the office of the commissioner of the ministry of foreign affairs of PRC in HK.

Thank you so much - how do you apply for the transit?

Ella, when you board the plane in HK, you should inform the carrier that you want to use the 72 hour free transit in Beijing; after arriving at Beijing airport, you can go to the transit counter to apply for the 72 hour free transit.
