2 months trip on silk road - possible for a single female train traveller

I am planning on travelling by train along this route from end of May to early June. I will probably be in Shanghai for work at the start of it. I have three questions:

If I have two months which parts would you recommend in terms of travel?
Up until where can you travel by train along the silk road?
Would it be possible to do this as a lone female traveller or would you advise against this? If it's unadvisable, would you recommend any organisations that could help plan this?

Hi, Elena, the main toursit cities for the Silk Road are Urumqi, Kashgar, Turpan, Dunhuang, Xian, Lanzhou, etc. The itinerary I would suggest is Lanzhou-Urumqi-Kashgar-Turpan-Dunhuang-Xian. In this route, you can take a high speed train from Turpan to Dunhuang and bullet train between Lanzhou and Urumqi. The estimated travel duration for a normal tour could last about 14 days.

However, since the local conditions along the Silk Road are quite limited and there are seldom English signs can be seen as well as the people who speak English in some of the cities, it may not be very easy to travel there on your own. Therefore, I would suggest you join in a guided tour if possible. Hope it helps.
