About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

US - Shanghai - South Korea

I was just told by my airline that a visa is absolutely necessary for the planned travel listed. Can you confirm this is not the case? I was going to spend approximately 48 hours in Shanghai before going to Daegu.

Damon, if you depart from US to Shanghai and then leave for South Korea within 144 hours, you are eligible for the 144h free transit. The condition is that you cannot have layovers in other cities except Shanghai, Zhejiang, and Jiangsu.
