Extension of current resident permit in another city

Hello, I need some clarification about the residence permit extension process.
Indeed, I have a residence permit that I made in Shanghai where I am currently living and working. But I am planning to travel around and when the expiry date of my resident permit arrives, I will need to extend it for 30 days. However at that time I won't be in Shanghai anymore but maybe in Chendgu or another city.
So here is my question: Can i apply for an extension of my resident permit on another city than the original one?
