Flying into Shanghai then to Beijing then to Singapore

Hello, can you enter Shanghai, then fly to Beijing from Shanghai, then onto Singapore form Beijing using the 72 hour free transit? so the route is - London-Shanghai-Beijing-London.

i find it very hard to find out the rules for this visa. i have looked on the Chinese embassy website and they do not make it clear. can you let me know where i can find the rules clearly?

Go to Shanghai Immigration's website or call them. The embassy is not in charge of immigration so you won't get much out of it.

No, you must arrive from another country, fly to one of the approved Chinese cities then onto a different country to the one you arrived from. You can make a stop at Shanghai or Beijing but not both. Arriving or departing to or from Hong Kong or Macau are ok, as they are special zones.
