Bank Statement needed if just turned 18 but not employed?

For visiting family, is there a need for a bank statement? Full time student, but will not be in formal education during the period of time travelling to China since it is between leaving Secondary School and joining University. Similarly there is no formal employment or relevant bank statement- are these needed? (dependent on parents for finance)

If so, the bank statement may not be necessary. Just try to apply with other documents.

Other documents refer to your passport and its photocopy, the application form attached with a passport-sized color photo, round trip air tickets and hotel reservation.

Thank you, though there wouldn't be hotel reservations (living with family) is that ok?

If you can't provide hotel reservations, you can get an invitation letter from your family for the application.
