Shenzhen entry

hi,
I am an Indian pp holder with Australian permanent residence.
I will be visiting HongKong for a week and heard going to Shenzhen to shop for a day is good. I have travelled to China many years ago on holiday. my visa has expired. do I still need to get a new entry permit as a few of the early answers seem a bit confusing. thank you .
