About:China Visa Exemption

Canadian and Japanese nationals

Hello, my family (some with Japanese, some with Canadian passports) are traveling from Japan to Vietnam with a 5 hour layover in Guangzhou. I believe we are eligible for the 24 hour direct transit, but if we want to leave the airport, how do we apply for a temporary stay permit? Do we need to prepare anything in advance? Thank you

Suzy, you don't need to prepare anything in advance. The Japanese passport holders can enter the city just by showing their passports. The Canadian passport holders need to show passports as well as the onward flight ticket to apply for a temperary stay permit stamp when going through the immigration counter.
