About:China Visa Renewal and Extension

M-type for China, Australian, apply in HK, wanting 5 months.

Hi,

I heard that the max duration of stay for an M-type while working for Chinese company is 90-days. Anything over 90 days then I will need to apply for Z-type.

If I only want a 5 month visa, is it better for me to apply for 90 day visa first in HK, then when I am in China, go and extend it for another 90 days?

I heard that depending on the duration of stay for the original visa, your extention will not be more than than that. E.g If I get a 2 month M-type, I can only extend it for a max of 2 months in China.

Peter, if you can get a business M type with duration of stay for 90 days, you will be able to apply for an extension to another 90 days. But if the duration of stay is 60 days only, you can only get 60-day extended time.

It may be 30 days, 60 days or 90 days. The consular officers will give you a proper duration based on your travel itinerary.
