About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

7 hour 50 min layover Guanzhou

Hi, I travel London to Christchurch Aug 2017 with three young children. Layover at Guangzhou 7hrs +.
Can I leave airport and book a room at the Pullman hotel on the airport site. They have rooms available for short term bookings. I can use the lounge in the airport, but a hotel room would be so much more convenient. I want my luggage to go direct London to Christchurch.

I assume you hold the UK passport. If you do you could book the hotel and walk across the street to stay there. We,have the US passport had 20 hours layover and got 1 night of free accommodation from China Southern Airlines so we picked Holiday Inn which is located about 15 mins from an airport just so it wouldn't be too much loud noise from outside.

Thanks very much for the reply. We have UK and New Zealand passports. The China southern deal only applies for layovers of over eight hours. We would just like to be able to have a room for a few hours. Does the 24 hour direct transit allow this?
