About:Chinese Embassy in Zimbabwe

transit in China Beijing

I am a Zimbabwean traveling from New Zealand to France passing through China and I would like to know if I am required to have a visa to get out of the airport and visit around during my 12 hours transit.

No, you don’t need it. You can enjoy the 24 hour direct transit in Beijing. You just need to apply for a free temporary stay permit when arriving at Beijing airport, and then you can leave the airport.
