How long does it take to issue a visa to mainland China

I am an American living in Nagano. Since this is far form the embassy and consulates I want to know if it is possible to issue a visa on the same day as the application. It is too far to go back and forth...

Paul, there is no same-day service, but if you choose the urgent service, it may take 2 working days to get the result.
