About:Prohibited Items

My son is taking part in a medical trial, and we plan to visit China on a tour.

My son has epilepsy and is using a gel on his skin twice a day that may, or may not, contain Cannabidiol. (It may be a placebo, or may contain the drug - we do not know). This is a part of the cannabis/marijuana plant but does not have the effects on the brain that marijuana has. The research is being done by Zynerba pharmaceuticals, and a hospital in Melbourne. He would have with him ~50 sachets of the gel. Would this be a problem for him on entering China?

For his case, you'd better ask the doctor to write a proof or something which shows that your son needs these during his stay. Then he won't have problem to take that in.
