About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Thanks Mindy, I should have added more detail.

Cruise movements are Singapore, Koh Samui, Hi Chi Minh, Nha Trang, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Busan, Maizuru etc. Would immigration be at the port to issue the Direct Transit? Princess is very inconsistant with their answers, basically, if doing a private tour arrange your own visa, if booking tour thru ship no visa required they will sort it but if princess get a visa for our shore tour they say we cant go ashore after that so its very conflicting. Our local paper said no visa required as there is a temperary stay permit but we dont know how to get that either. Cant get thru to our China immigration in Brisbane

You will be eligible for the 144-hour visa free transit given that shanghai is your only port of call in China. Immigration procedures will be done after you disembark, and all you need is your onward ticket. Call Shanghai immigration instead of the Chinese embassy as the embassy staff are not responsible for immigration matters.
