About:China Transit Visa

On a cruise ship travelling from Hong Kong to Japan with a 1 day stop in Shanghai

ship arrives at 6am and leaves at 10pm. Do I need a visa if I do either an organised ship tour or independent tour

You may be able to enjoy the 24 hour direct transit in Shanghai, and then no visa will be needed. You can confirm that with the cruise ship company.
