Can I extend a tourist visa in Hong Kong

My wife and I are US citizens and have work visas/residence permits for China. Our son still only has a 60 day tourist visa, and I am wondering if we can extend it to 90 days or more through the offices in Hong Kong. Thank you.

Also, regarding the above question about HK -- they do not stamp passports in HK so it is possible to fly there and out on the same day, you don't need to stay 24 hours.

Jeremy, if your son needs to stay for more than 60 days in China, he can try to change the tourist L type to an S type at the exit and entry administration of the local PSB within China.

Thank you for your answer. Our local PSB where we he our residency permits are not very helpful -- we the typical "I don't know how to do that so 'no'" response. That's why I was wondering if there other options, like going to Hong Kong and speaking to someone more used to foreigners. Any ideas? Thanks again.

He can do a visa run to Hong Kong for less than a day, which is perfectly legal.

Thanks. I'm trying to extend the times between HK runs. We've got that part down, I'd like to do it less by extending his Visa by 30 days. Is that possible?

He will be granted a 60-day stay per each entry, which is longer than the 30 days he needs, so once will definitely be enough.
