About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Toronto-Shanghai-Seoul

Hello,
I am choosing between a 13 hour layover and a 24 hour layover. During my layover if I decide to leave the airport to explore Shanghai would I be required to take my checked-on luggage as well, or just my carry-on?

You should contact with the airlines to inquire about that. If your luggage will be delivered to the final destination directly, you don’t need to collect it on your own.
