About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Flying stand by

I will traveling to Shanghai. I will be under the 144 hr time frame. However, as a retiree for a US Carrier I travel stand by. Will the no visa rule apply if we don't have an actual paid ticket home. I am not sure what qualifies as a confirmed onward ticket. Thank you in advance.

Usually, if one flies stand by, he/she cannot enjoy the 144 hour free transit anymore. As far as I know, the so-called confirmed ticket refers to the ticket with confirmed travel date, and the ticket can allow you to have a seat after checking in. You are advised to confirm that with the airlines.
