About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

144 hrs visa free visit of Shanghai?

We are Swedish Citizens and will do a cruise from Hongkong to Tokyo
There is a stop in Shanghai for the day. The stop before Shanghai is Okinawa, Japan and the stop after Shanghai is Nagasaki, Japan. However our trip starts with a flight from Sweden to Hongkong and from there we will take a cruise ship ending in Japan. Can we visit Shanghai under the 144 hrs free regulation?

Best regards

Hans, if so, you are not eligible for the 144 hour free transit in Shanghai.
