How to notorize my documents?

It is now a requirement to notorize documents (I'm presuming that the workplace in China requires them to process the visa/permits etc). How do I go about doing this in Japan?

First step is to make the documents notarized by the local notary public, and the ministry of foreign affairs of Japan. Next, go to the embassy of China to get the documents attested.
