About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Qualifying for the 72 hour transit or staying in the airport

I am flying to Thailand for one month from Beijing, then flying back to Beijing before flying onwards to the UK. Before my flight to the UK, I need to leave Beijing airport very quickly to collect some luggage (in Beijing). I assume this is ok with the 72-hour rule? Also, are there any circumstances whereby someone could just bring the luggage to me in terminal 3, and I therefore don't have to apply for the visa-free transit?

Also, will any of this be affected by the fact I recently had a work visa cancelled in China?

Robert, based on what you said, you will qualify for the 72 hour free transit in Beijing. The recent cancellation of a work Z type won’t affect that.
I have no idea if there will be someone who can bring the luggage to you. You need to figure it out on your own.

Thanks so much Katherine, that is reassuring. I only asked about someone if bringing to me, in the case that I didn't qualify for the transit. I'm not sure if they would let me through immigration simply to meet someone coming to the terminal. But hopefully if I be able to transit and all that won't matter!
